Reader’s Review

Such a beautiful book in so many different ways! The illustrations are gorgeous and the language is almost poetic as the author tells a gentle story of a Palestinian girl from America who goes to visit her grandmother in Palestine. She doesn’t speak Arabic and her grandmother doesn’t know English, but that doesn’t keep them from getting to know each other’s culture and increasing the love and bond between grandparent and grandchild. The information about Palestinian culture is an added bonus.

To look out for

Passing reference is made to the struggles of Palestinian farmers, but the book does not take a strong political stance – there is room to have more serious discussion on the topic.
