Yasmine asks her mom why she has a belly button, and her mom tells her that’s how it connected her to her mother before she was born. She also learns that everyone has a belly button. The story will appeal to children who are also curious, but the illustrations may not appeal to parents, who might be concerned that their children will go around showing off their belly buttons the way Yasmine does.

Yasmine is shown in small shorts and a t-shirt, wondering about her belly button. Later in the book she and the other kids in her class show their belly buttons to each other.
