Reader’s Review

An intriguing fictional adventure about a boy who climbs Mount Everest for the first time. The complicated story line is better for older readers.

To look out for

  • Islamic Values: Main character gets in trouble because he illegally climbs skyscrapers. His father has not seen him in seven years, and the two do not have a good relationship initially. In addition, the father lies in order to be able to get his son to climb Everest – with the goal of personal fame.
  • Violence: Climbers get sick because of the thin air. Mention is made of a boy who dies trying to imitate the main character. Mention is made of the mother breaking her back when climbing. Parents encourage climbers to worry about themselves and not others.
