Reader’s Review
Written in a similar style as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, with simple drawings and thoughts interspersed with words, this book is likely to be very popular with Muslim kids under 10. The themes are surprisingly good – if somewhat cliche – about a young boy who moves to a new school and must deal with adjusting to new classes, a bully, and a neighbor who doesn’t like Muslims. The parents are practicing Muslims and supportive, and the book has a happy ending. Overall a fun book to have at home and in a classroom.
To look out for
- Islamic Values: Omar and his sister don’t always get along. He finds her annoying, and she doesn’t treat him kindly.
