Reader’s Review

Although not as profound as the first book in the series ‘The Giver’, fans will be happy to see that this third book brings back the beloved Matt as its main character. Matt is the hero of this book, and must use his own powers to heal the world around him. The book has more mythology and magic than the first two.

To look out for

  • Islamic Values: The forest turns deadly and harms those that enter it.
  • Romance: Matt likes a girl in the village. Some flirtation and a kiss between the two.
  • Violence: The descriptions of the forest attacking Kira, Matt and the Leader are gruesome. Victims’ feet bleed and they are attacked by acid. A major character dies.
