Reader’s Review
Fans of Gordon Korman will not be disappointed by the antics of the main character in this book, who starts off spoiled and eager to commit pranks, but eventually makes friends and makes better choices. Worth discussing with kids the harms of pranks on others. Some violence, but overall a fun read – also a good audiobook choice.
To look out for
- Islamic Values: Main character is spoiled, believes he can get away with breaking rules – and often does break rules. He also ‘steals’ back his own phone, breaks into homes, and doesn’t have a great relationship with his rich dad.
- Language: The word ‘butt’ is used frequently as in ‘save his sorry butt’. Mention of lizard poop.
- Violence: The adults are hypnotized by a main character in order to steal money from them. A baby alligator eagerly eats meat, and devours small animals. In the climax of the book the kids are captured and threatened by a group of men working for the main villain.
