Considered a classic, this picture book may get mixed reviews from children and adults alike. The black and white pictures are beautiful and engaging, but the story of a dangerous board game that comes alive, causing wild animals and even a volcano to appear in a house may scare or confuse young children. Older children will be able to appreciate the adventure and the relief of the two siblings when the game is over.
To look out for
- Islamic Values: Parents may need to explain to their children that there is nothing real about the story, and that it is not possible for a game to suddenly result in altering reality.
