Reader’s Review

The third installment of the Planet Omar series is likely to engage younger audience with its quirky drawings and funny plot. This one is a little harder to believe, as Omar and his friends are convinced that their beloved teacher has been abducted by aliens. Reminiscent of the picture book ‘Ms Nelson is Missing’, they go on a quest to look for their teacher and encounter a number of unlikely coincidences. Best for a younger audience – but with some unfortunate bathroom humor.

To look out for

  • Islamic Values: Numerous jokes about farting; at one point his sister gags as a result and must leave the table. Omar’s substitute teacher is uncaring and harsh towards the students. Omar’s teacher is pregnant, and there are discussions of her being sick, nauseas, and growing larger.
