Reader’s Review
This is a highly praised and popular picture book that teaches the lesson that creativity can have many forms, and that sometimes just starting with a dot can lead to great things. The encouragement of the teacher is a lovely to see, but the description of an entire gallery dedicated to dots – perhaps superfluous. While encouraging a child to explore his or her talents and not confining creativity to a set of strict rules are worthy themes, the danger is in tipping the balance and praising any work, idea or thought in the name of individualism.
