Reader’s Review

The classic story of a little mouse that tries to outwit the animals in the forest with intentions to eat her. The rhyming phrases are catchy and a lot of fun to read aloud (especially if you can do the voice of the gruffalo!).

To look out for

The descriptions and picture of the gruffalo may scare very young children.

  • Islamic Values: The mouse is making up tales of an unknown creature to scare away the other animals, and boasting about himself.
  • Violence: The gruffalo threatens the animals by saying he enjoys eating things like owl ice cream and scrambled snake.
