Reader’s Review
Considered one of the most widely read books in history, this is book worth reading and discussing. While young children will be able to understand the English, and may enjoy the story of an encounter between a stranded pilot and a gentle prince from another planet, they will be unlikely to understand the allegorical nature of the book. The prince travels from planet to planet to find knowledge and truth, and the book has many lessons about what is truly important in life. This is a book that can be enjoyed by all ages, but may be most useful for teens and young adults.
To look out for
- Islamic Values: The prince visits a man who drinks to forget his shame. There are great discussions that can be head about the purpose of life, but the book is a secular one making no mention of God.
- Violence: The prince allows a snake to bite him, which some have interpreted as suicide, even though in the book the author write he does not die.
