Reader’s Review
Fans of the first book ‘Precious and the Great Cake Mystery’ will be excited to read this mystery novel. The heroine of the novel is just as kind, spunky, helpful and resourceful, but the book is longer and a slightly more difficult read than the first. The culture and environment of Botswana shines through. The numerous encounters with lions is difficult to believe, and may be scary for younger readers.
To look out for
- Islamic Values: Precious befriends a boy who lives near her aunt (a non-romantic relationship) and together they solve the mystery. She also travels very far on a truck with strangers, without parent supervision (but with the permission of her father).
- Violence: Children and adults come in frequent contact with lions and on a number of occasions they are in dangerous situations as a result.
