Reader’s Review
Often compared to Little Women, this is a modern story about 4 sisters and their widowed father, and their many adventures. The book is a lot of fun as the girls spend the summer getting into all sorts of trouble, and constantly getting into dangerous or embarrassing situations. It’s unfortunate that the author chose to bring in a fair deal of romance, especially as the girls are very young in the first book (between 4-12 years of age), making it a questionable choice for younger readers.
To look out for
- Language: One of the sister’s if often grumpy and rude, sometimes calling her sisters ‘jerk’ or ‘moron’
- Romance: Rosalind has a crush on Cagney (who is 6 years older than her), and is devastated when she finds out he has a girlfriend. Jeffrey’s mother kisses her boyfriend, they talk about getting married soon. The girls talk casually about falling in love and marrying someone.
