Reader’s Reviews

Adults who grew up reading Enid Blyton will find that this series – while outdated – will still appeal to children. Lots of adventures and solving of mysteries, it might just inspire your child to create his or her own secret society. The phrases are old-fashioned and the pace may be slow for preteens, but younger audiences will related better to this series than Enid Blyton’s other works. (Note: There are 16 books in the complete series)

To look out for

  • Islamic Values: Children make secret society, go on adventures without adult supervision and spy on adults, often guessing at the intentions of others. Boys like to tease others, and talk in arrogant or bossy tones. Girls occasionally wish they were boys so that they could do the same things as the boys.
  • Language: Children tease a younger sister who is not part of the group and make up rhymes about her. They refer to disliked adults with unflattering language and use words like idiot, stupid and crazy on occasion.
