Readers Review

A beautiful and gentle story of a young boy who does not want to leave his beloved homeland of Oman. Instead of trying to convince him that he shouldn’t feel this way, his grandfather spends his last few days in Oman revisiting all the places they love so much. Their love for the desert and traditional is described throughout, but what shines through is the loving relationship between grandfather and grandchild. Parents will love this book, but preteens may find the pace of the book slow.

To look out for

Aref’s mother is less understanding of his feelings of trepidation than her grandfather, but other than that very little of concern.
